Australia's first council-funded father-specific program — now supporting whole families through the transition to parenthood. RAD FAMS 2026 is our biggest offering yet.

The Research

The science behind why this matters.

Even the most robust relationships face real challenges during the transition to parenthood. These aren't soft statistics — they come from the most rigorous longitudinal research on new parents ever conducted.

2 in 3
couples experience significant relationship decline after having a baby
increase in relationship conflict in the first year after baby arrives
lower relationship decline in couples who complete a BBH program
↓ PPD
lower postnatal depression in both partners — including fathers
Relationship Satisfaction
Couples who complete BBH report significantly higher relationship satisfaction compared to control couples — a finding that holds at 12-month follow-up. The program prevents the decline, not just slows it.
Co-Parenting Quality
BBH parents demonstrate better co-parenting outcomes — more collaborative, less conflicted, with clearer shared expectations. This creates a more secure environment for the infant from day one.
Postnatal Mental Health
Lower incidence of postnatal depression in both mothers and fathers. Paternal postnatal depression is significantly under-recognised in Australia — BBH explicitly addresses both parents.
Infant Outcomes
Babies of BBH parents showed more positive engagement during family play in the first year. A secure couple relationship is the foundation of a secure attachment environment for your child.

Tuesday Evening · 7:00pm – 9:00pm
Building Your Foundation
The foundation of everything. Couples who know each other deeply — their dreams, fears, and daily worlds — are far more resilient when the pressure hits. We help you stay curious about each other, even when life gets loud. And we give you real skills for navigating conflict without turning it into a war.
  • Deepening friendship
  • Communication under pressure
  • Navigating conflict
  • Emotional intimacy
Session Two
TBC
June 2026
Tuesday Evening · 7:00pm – 9:00pm
Building Your Team
Who does what? How do you make decisions together? How do you support each other when you're both running on empty? This session is all about co-parenting — finding your rhythm, your roles, and your shared vision before the game begins.
  • Co-parenting roles
  • Shared expectations
  • Supporting each other
  • Building your village
Session Three
TBC
June 2026
Tuesday Evening · 7:00pm – 9:00pm
Keeping the Connection
Romance doesn't disappear after baby — it just needs tending. In our final session we explore how stress affects your relationship and your baby, and give you simple, evidence-based ways to stay close even in the blur of new parenthood. You leave with a shared plan and the tools to use it.
  • Romance in the chaos
  • Stress & your baby
  • Connection rituals
  • Long-term vision
Who It's For

You don't need to be struggling to benefit.

This workshop is for any couple who wants to face parenthood as a team — with more tools, more connection, and more confidence. It's prevention, not intervention. Preparation, not therapy.

👨 A note for Dads
Becoming a father is massive. And for a lot of dads, it can feel like the relationship changes overnight — less connection, more tension, less of the person you were before. BBH isn't just a mums' program. It's built for couples, which means it's built for you. Come as a team. Leave with a plan.
🤰
Expecting couples (any trimester)
The most powerful moment to intervene is before the crisis begins. Arrive with shared expectations, a shared language, and skills already practised.
👶
New parents (0–12 months)
In the thick of it and feeling the strain? BBH gives you the framework to understand what's happening — and the tools to navigate it while it's still happening.
💡
Couples investing proactively
The greatest gift you can give your baby is a strong and healthy relationship between the two of you. BBH is for couples who treat their relationship as the infrastructure of their family.
🔄
Expecting a second child
You know what happened last time. BBH lets you go in differently — with realistic expectations, explicit agreements, and a plan for the specific dynamics a second child creates.
Common Questions

Before you register.

Honest answers to the questions we hear most. No clinical language, no pressure.

Yes — BBH is designed as a couples program and works best when both partners attend together. That said, if your partner is hesitant, reach out and we can talk it through. Many partners who were initially reluctant have found it the most valuable part of the whole experience.
Not at all. BBH is designed as prevention but it absolutely works for couples who are already in the thick of it. If you're finding things really hard, it might actually be exactly what you need right now. If we think you'd benefit from individual couples counselling alongside or instead of the program, we'll let you know honestly.
It's warm, practical, and deliberately not therapy. You won't be asked to share anything personal with a group or put on the spot. The sessions are interactive and structured — more like a really good workshop than a support group. Most couples leave each session feeling closer, not more exposed.
It's genuinely free — no catch, no upsell at the end, no subscription. The program is funded by Macedon Ranges Shire Council and Kyneton Community House as part of a broader early intervention investment in family wellbeing. The only thing we ask is that you show up for all three sessions.
Life happens. Sessions will be recorded for registered participants so you can catch up if something comes up. That said, the program is designed to build across all three sessions, so attending live gives you the best experience. Let us know in advance if you're going to miss one.
The program is facilitated by Gabriel Carazo — ACA-accredited Relationship Counsellor, Family Therapist, and certified Gottman Bringing Baby Home Educator. He was named Victorian Father of the Year and is presenting original research at the Australian Fatherhood Research Symposium at Deakin University in May 2026. He also founded RAD DADS — Australia's first council-funded father-specific bush playgroup program.
The program is primarily funded for families in the Macedon Ranges region. If you're outside the area, register your interest anyway and we'll let you know if there are spots available. We're working toward expanding the program — your expression of interest helps make that case.
