Clear fees for every service.

All prices are GST inclusive. In-person sessions at Kyneton include a $20 room hire fee, which is reflected in the prices shown. After-hours appointments (outside standard business hours) may incur a 15% surcharge.

Most couples work within a 6–10 session arc. Intensive formats are available for those who need to move faster. Session fees are discussed at the free consult — no financial commitment at that stage.

A note on affordability

Ranges Counselling aims to provide affordable and accessible services. We understand that the cost of counselling is a real consideration for many families — particularly those navigating the financial pressures of new parenthood.

Payment plans are available for those experiencing financial hardship. Please mention this at the free consult or in your enquiry — it will be handled with complete discretion and without judgment.

Community programs are a deliberate choice. Free programs funded through council and community partnerships make early intervention accessible to families who might not otherwise seek support. Bringing Baby Home is the ideal first step for couples who are not yet ready for individual sessions — it's not therapy, it's preparation.

What every session actually includes.

Session fees are not just for the time in the room. Every session includes pre-session preparation, evidence-based clinical practice, and post-session work — not billed separately.

Free 20-minute initial consultation
Every new client begins with a free 20-minute phone or video consultation. No clinical intake, no obligation — just a conversation about whether this is the right fit.
Pre-session preparation
Gabriel reviews your situation and prepares the session framework before every appointment. You're never starting cold.
EFT and Gottman integrated clinical practice
Not just one framework — the full E→A→G sequence, integrated deliberately. EFT for emotional safety, IPNB for understanding, Gottman for skills.
Session summary and between-session support
Key insights and any agreed practices from the session are documented and available to you. Brief between-session questions are responded to within reasonable limits.
Clinical framework documentation on request
For complex presentations or collaborative care arrangements, written clinical framework summaries are available for your GP or other treating practitioners — with your consent.
Onward referral where appropriate
If individual mental health support is indicated alongside couples work, we actively support onward or parallel referral. We hold a clear scope of practice.

Common questions about fees.

No. Couples counselling is not covered by Medicare in Australia. A GP Mental Health Care Plan covers individual sessions with a registered psychologist — it doesn't extend to couples therapy regardless of the practitioner's qualifications. This is a Medicare policy position, not a reflection of clinical quality.
It depends on your fund and level of cover. Some private health funds partially cover counselling sessions under extras — worth checking with your fund directly. Individual therapy sessions within a couples context may be claimable under some policies. This is worth clarifying with your fund before beginning — Gabriel can provide invoices in the format your fund requires.
No. No referral letter or GP Mental Health Care Plan is required for couples counselling or individual counselling. You can book the free consultation directly through Calendly. Professional referrals from GPs, MCH nurses, and allied health are welcomed — but self-referral is equally fine.
Payment plans are available — please ask. We understand that the cost of counselling is a real consideration, particularly for families navigating the financial pressures of new parenthood or separation. Hardship arrangements are discussed with complete discretion. Raise this at the free consult or in your initial enquiry.
48 hours notice is requested for cancellations. Life happens — particularly with young children — and this is handled with understanding. Late cancellations within 24 hours may incur a partial fee. No-shows without notice are charged at the full session rate. This is discussed at the first session.
Most couples see meaningful shift within 6–10 sessions. Some complete the work in that time. Others continue for 14–20 sessions for deeper work or more complex presentations. There's no set number — the pace is determined by your situation and how you're progressing. A clear picture of the arc is discussed at the free consult.

Accessible counselling — because it matters.

The cost of counselling should not be a barrier to accessing support — especially for families navigating the pressures of new parenthood, financial strain, or relationship crisis. Payment plans are available, confidential, and handled without judgment.
